A grand jury has indicted two men linked to an alleged prostitution ring that police said involved teenage pimps and victims. But the grand jury declined to indict a third suspect. Martin Reyes, 17, was indicted last week on a charge of engaging in organized crime and Chang Hyeong Lee, 56, was indicted on a charge of aggravated kidnapping. The grand jury declined to indict Diego Armando Rodriguez, 19.
The investigation started last year after police arrested a 32-year-old woman at an east Fort Worth, Texas apartment complex on suspicion of offering a 14-year-old girl to men for sex in exchange for $50. That case led to a larger investigation involving members of a south Fort Worth gang. Police said gang members befriended girls ages 12 to 16 and later forced them into prostitution. If the girls refused, police said, they were sexually assaulted and their families were threatened. Several of the gang members were juveniles, including a 15-year-old girl who police said picked up the victims at their homes so their parents wouldn’t get suspicious. The gang members were arrested in January.
